Individuality in Boston, MA

For anybody who loves American history, or the Red Sox, Boston is a great town to start a career! For me, when I was recruited by Wellington Management and one of my greatest mentors, I was thrilled. Like Baird, I was put up in a nice hotel and when it was clear it was a good fit for my individuality, I accepted with excitement. My portfolio manager was doing something innovative at the time and my automation skills from my Baird training was just what the team needed to build out their new product. If you think about Boston, I think individuality is a great word for that town because there are so many statues of historical America leaders who broke free from Britain’s culture of conformity to become themselves. With over 50 colleges within a small 50 mile radius, the young generation is free to explore their creative interests and be themselves - to truly create their unique character in those formative years. Wellington offered exactly the same. The great thing about Wellington is that unlike a lot of Wall Street firms, it is a very entrepreneurial place where true merit was rewarded. So while Boston is not as big as the large city of New York, it very much represents all things individuality and a lot of American history for leaders willing to take a chance on a new city as they develop who they are, what they want to become, and what their destiny has in store for them. And if you can get to a Red Sox / Yankees baseball game, visit the Italian district, or follow the Freedom Trail, or go shopping in the amazing Back Bay, or go visit Harvard or MIT campuses in Cambridge, it is a city that has something for everybody who lives there or wants to just visit. It is also a great city for aspiring runners who want to qualify for the Boston Marathon!
